Become a Foster Parent

Foster parenting is a full-time job that requires tending to the physical and emotional needs of a child. Treatment Foster Parents are responsible for meeting the day-to-day needs of the children placed in their homes. This includes physical, emotional, educational, recreational, and behavioral needs. Treatment Foster Parents receive support and feedback from the treatment team in caring for the children. Treatment Foster Parents are expected to provide skilled care, discipline and nurturing for the children placed in their homes. Treatment Foster Parents are parents, behavior management specialists, mentors, guides, protectors, team members, advocates, teachers, role models for families, caregivers and much more.

Treatment Foster Parents at Parker Therapeutic Services, Inc do extraordinary things for the children in their care. We are currently recruiting families who are interested in the challenge of foster parenting, which includes providing a home and care for special adolescents. We provide pre-service and ongoing training, 24-hour support, and a generous stipend to our treatment foster parents. Foster children receive in-home therapy – weekly. Our staff and Treatment Foster Parents work together to meet the needs of foster children.

The foster home is the core of a treatment program designed to help adolescents grow and develop in a safe, structured environment. Treatments Foster Parents help children learn to deal with emotional problems, learn to trust others, and learn to set and achieve goals for the future.

Treatment Foster parents are role models who provide the day to daycare, communication, and supervision that adolescents need. Foster parents report that having foster children “completes their family,” gives them “additional people to care about,” and “teaches their natural children the importance of sharing and giving to others.” They also say that foster parenting is challenging work and requires “more patience and effort than they thought possible.” Parker Therapeutic Services, Inc provides a high level of support and supervision, and compensation to our treatment foster parents.
